Information about INNSBRUCK Perched high in the Alps and taking its name from Tyrol’s Inn River, Innsbruck is something of a winter wonderland. Alpine sports, and skiing in particular, attract thousands of tourists each year. Innsbruck’s popularity grew dramatically in the last half of the twentieth century as the city hosted the Winter Olympics not once but twice (1964, 1976). The Olympic Museum, which is famous for its “Golden Roof” (it’s actually copper), displays an interesting array of sports memorabilia.
